Some of the following items may surprise you to learn that they are considered toxic foods for dogs to eat.
Though they are tiny dogs, Chihuahuas are known for always being on the furniture, in our laps, and having access to coffee tables, where we tend to set a lot of things.
Because of this, before we go into the actual food list, the following items should be mentioned first.
Nicotine, and alcohol are extremely toxic, and potentially fatal to your Chihuahua, as well as coffee, tea, and other drinks that have caffeine in them.
As we all know, our Chihuahuas love to “share” our drinks, whether they've been invited to or not!
Make sure that when you are drinking any of the above items, your cup is put out of reach from their inquisitive minds and mouths!
As for the dangerous foods for dogs, they are:
Chocolate Grapes Raisins Onions, raw or cooked in other foods Macadamia nuts Unbaked bread dough (made with yeast) Xylitol—this is a sweetener that can be found in mints and gum.
Any of these foods can cause serious illness and possible death to our pets, and the amounts of the food does not have to be that large, especially in Chihuahuas.
Even small amounts can be toxic!
Also, never give your dog any type of human pain relievers, such as Tylenol or Advil, as these can have devastating, toxic effects.
If your Chihuahua appears to be sick or in pain, take him to the vet for the proper and safe medication he may need.
Since we are all known from time to time, to give our dog a bite of what we are having, post or memorize this list and keep your precious baby away from these poisonous foods for dogs!
Chihuahuas can be known to get into everything and anything! If you grow houseplants, make sure the ones you have are safe, and not toxic to them.
