Pictures of Tick Bites

What Do Ticks Look Like?

Many people want to see pictures of tick bites, or wonder “What do ticks look like?”

Ticks have 8 legs, and a hard type shell to their body. Until they have eaten, they are almost flat. After engorging themselves on a mammal's blood, they swell up to many times their original size.

I have a couple of tick photos that will give you a pretty good idea of what to look for.

Notice that these 2 tick bite pictures, are kind of a before and after shot, as ticks are quite small when they first bite, but then they continue feeding until they engorge and fall off.

Notice on the picture of the smaller tick, that only the tick's head is bitten in to the side of his neck.

They only put the end of their heads into your body, as this how they suck blood from whatever they bite.

The picture beside it is what an engorged tick looks like. They will continue feeding on their prey (human or animal) until they swell up so big with blood, that they can not hold onto their bite any longer.

Then they simply let loose and fall off.

This last photo is an isolated picture of a tick.
