Flea Bombs

A total waste of time and money!

Many years ago, I used flea bombs, flea foggers, and even flea collars to try and keep my house free of these pests.

The problem was the fleas never left! Sure, they seemed to maybe decrease in the amount for a day or two, but they never went away. flea bombs, Chihuahua laying on pillow

Not only that, but in order to use flea bombs and flea foggers, you have to evacuate your house for awhile, remove all pets that you own, and cover up your dishes, cooking utensils, food, and any other various items that might come in contact with your mouth or eyes at a later point!

They are a lot of trouble, can be very potentially dangerous, and they do not work!

Everyone of these products target the adult flea and because of that, they are ineffective and expensive in the long run, as you have to repeat this fiasco many times during the course of the flea season!

Targeting the flea's life cycle is the only way that you will ever be rid of fleas and these types of products simply do not do that.

If you are curious as to how bad the flea problem in your home may be, you can set up a simple homemade flea trap to find out.

Set a shallow bowl of water that has been filled with soapy dishwater, such as Dawn, and place it on the floor. Shine a light over the bowl by using an adjustable desk lamp, preferably one of those that can hinge in various directions.

Set this up when you get ready to go to bed. The fleas will be attracted to the warmth, believing that there may be a food source nearby and will jump into the soapy water. The soap coats the flea so that it can not jump back out of the water.

In the morning, note whether you have a few fleas in the bowl or lots of them, then simply dump the fleas down the toilet.

Though the Dawn soap coats them so they are unable to hop back out of the shallow dish, this does not mean that Dawn kills fleas.

Unfortunately, some people believe that Dawn will kill fleas and decide to bath their dog with it. Do not do this! It is way too harsh for their skin and will cause them problems.

You can make a flea trap to get an idea of how many fleas you have in your home, but even if there appears to be a severe flea infestation, it is still best to put your time and effort into the most effective ways of ridding your home of them.

That is by killing the fleas that are in your carpet. This does not mean you need to run out and buy expensive products. There is a much easier (and free) way to do this!

You also need to properly treat your Chihuahua, and flea collars do not do a good job, as they also only affect the adult flea.

Do yourself and your precious Chihuahua a favor, and leave the flea bombs, flea foggers, and flea collars sitting on the store shelf!
