A Chihuahua Pregnancy
A Chihuahua pregnancy can bring a lot of excitement into your household, and along with it, a few concerns. Most of these concerns are centered around the proper care of your female during this special time, and right off the bat, you may be wondering if she is definitely pregnant. 
Though there are a few tests that can be performed, these can't be run immediately, like you can for a human pregnancy. By the time you are actually able to run a test, you may already have your answer of whether or not she is indeed pregnant. There are various signs and symptoms that indicate pregnancy that you can watch for. You may be surprised to learn that morning sickness is quite common for some dogs! Chihuahuas, or any dog for that matter, rarely deliver exactly on
their due date,
so you should not be concerned if the puppies arrive a bit earlier, or a bit later, than expected.
You will definitely want to make sure you are home for the big event, as sometimes, problems can arise, and she may need your help.
Though milk fever usually doesn't rear its ugly head until nursing, it can sometimes show up at the very end of a pregnancy. Giving her the wrong diet while she is pregnant, can sometimes cause this, so be very careful, in this respect. My best piece of advice for you would be, to not baby her while she is pregnant. In my experience, dogs that have been coddled, seem to have a harder time delivering. Treat her as you normally have, and if coddling is something she is already accustomed to, try to put an end to this, as much as you can. Don't be carrying her everywhere, let her walk for herself! Take her for a short walk or two, daily. She needs exercise, so she will be strong and healthy for whelping.
